A Mushroom House

A Mushroom House

Few years ago, a friend of mine was hosting a small group at her house. Three months prior the meeting, we were given Hebrews 4 to meditate on.  Also, we were asked to create any form of art pieces to go along with the Bible passage and share with the group what the Lord had spoken to us. On the day of the meeting, it seemed like this phase 'enter His rest' was the theme that was spoken to most of us; including me.

I cut a mushroom shape out of a piece of flat clay and drew a door, tree barks and some spiral shapes on top of the mushroom house. The phase 'enter His rest' spoke to me that I would enter God's house one day after I died; and I would live in a resting place with the Lord forever. I also pictured myself bouncing around His place like the spongy texture of a giant mushroom. The spiral shapes symbolized believers who I would be meeting and living with in His place.

Most people when they see mushrooms, they will refuse to eat them. My husband is one of those people. But once they taste it, they might realize how much they have been missing out this delicious food. (I guess it only applies to some people; not all. lol!) Same ideal with the Good News. Not all people would accept salvation only comes from the Son of God. People heard about it, knew about it but never taste it. Until one day they finally taste the Gospel and understand the forgiveness of sins; then they become to realize that how much they have been missing out the goodness of God.

Are you one of those people that refuse to hear the Gospel? Even though you heard about it but you have not put your faith to taste the Good News of Jesus. In Hebrews 4: 7 said, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." The more you harden your heart, the more you are walking further away from God. The more you are walking further away from God, the more you are away from entering His place to rest forever. Hebrews 4:6 mentioned only some people can enter His rest. Be sure you are one of them!

Hebrews 4: 11-13 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience. For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
